Abstract

The master equation describing the dynamics of an open quantum system is rarely exactly solvable, even when it is in Lindblad form. The simulation of the dynamics of an open quantum system requires therefore a numerical approximation of the solution. Wave Function Monte Carlo (WFMC) is a simulation method based on the stochastic unravelling of the master equation. In this introductory talk we describe how to simulate the evolution of a simple open quantum system together with some tricks that speed up the computation.
